It feels like forever since I really got into the Perth Fashion Festival. I think it is such a great cultural event for our city, but for the last couple of years life has just seemed to get in the way. This year I made the decision to make time for PFF, and I’m so glad I did, because last night’s runway shows greeted me like an old friend, making me remember why I fell in love with this crazy week of fashion to begin with.

Ok, Ok, I am a little bit puppy-obsessed… how could I not be when I’ve got this cutie keeping me company 24/7? That’s why when I laid eyes on this illustrated T-shirt by Daniel (ink.) I just had to have it. Daniel’s T-shirts are made more impressive by the inspiring story behind his brand. Daniel has Cerebral Palsy, which affects the muscles in his legs and hands, but he doesn’t let that get in his way! I was personally inspired by Daniel’s story and I know this will be the first in a long line of Daniel (ink.) T-shirts joining my wardrobe.
There are few fashion runways more fun than a student showcase. Last week a rooftop carpark in Joondalup played host to the debut collections of eight graduate designers as part of the City of Joondalup’s annual Urban Couture event. To top it off, WA’s-own Jaime Lee Major attended as a special guest, along with a selection of her demi-couture hand beaded gowns, including a piece recently worn by Lady Gaga (the spectacular gold gown above, far right). Although the graduate collections were vastly different in style, I walked away coveting at least one piece presented by each student.
