Recently my go-to hairdresser left the industry and I have been forced to hunt for a new hair salon. There are three things I look for in a salon: expertise (they need to be damn good at their trade); consultation (they need to know what I mean when I say I want a caramel balayage or a messy Lara Bingle bob); and personality (I want to be able to have a laugh while I’m sitting in the chair). I think I just found my new hair dresser. Enter, The Nest Hair Boutique, a quirky little salon run from the Melville home of business owner and head stylist Charlie Crothers.
Because I’m making structural alterations to my home (fingers crossed – I submitted the application to council last week!) I am nowhere near ready to start buying furniture and homewares, but that doesn’t stop me from dreaming all day long! I have collated a bit of a mood board above, to give you an idea of the types of materials and textures that I’m hoping to use in my renovation (can you say oil rubbed bronze mixer tap?!)

Wearing: Maxi – St Frock; Hat – Mimco; Jacket – Zara
This post is a back to basics ode to the Summer essentials – the high rotation pieces that I live in during the warmer months: My throw-on maxi dress from St Frock, a light weight dress-up or dress-down hat and sun kissed locks thanks to the amazing Charlie Crothers of the Nest Hair Boutique. The only thing missing is my new pair of Birks, which I conveniently forgot on this beach trip, but that’s the beauty of Summer – no one cares if you’re bare foot!
